MIND AND MUSCLE RESCUE
Remedial Massage Therapy & Pain Management Counselling

What is Neuro Myo-Fascial Release Massage?Neuro-myofascial release is a gentle, effective technique that works with both the fascia and the nervous system. By applying precise pressure to fascial trigger points, this method signals the brain to relax the surrounding muscles and fascia naturally. Clients will often start to feel the benefits within minutes. The treatment is fast and painless, using just enough pressure for the client to feel the trigger points without causing discomfort. Unlike the old saying "no pain, no gain," this approach prioritises helping the nervous system feel safe enough release tension the tension for us. Sessions are performed over clothing, with no need for oils or balms.

How Is Counselling Integrated Into the Treatment?Pain isn’t just physical—it’s shaped by stress, thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and the nervous system. Yet, when we’re in pain, these factors are often overlooked. Since I started as a massage therapist in 2020, I’ve seen a consistent pattern between chronic pain and mental health. I felt it was important to offer support beyond just physical treatment, which led me to become a counsellor. This allows me to provide a safe space for clients to explore the deeper aspects of their pain—if they choose to. Counselling is never mandatory. Some clients are ready to explore their thoughts and emotions as part of their healing, while others prefer to focus purely on physical relief. My job is to follow your lead and work in a way that feels right for you. That could mean hands-on treatment with no talking, a deeper conversation without massage, or a blend of both. It’s entirely up to you.

What Conditions /Issues Can This Approach Help With?I work with people experiencing neck, shoulder, and back pain, tension headaches, jaw pain, hip pain, and general stiffness. But this work isn’t just for chronic issues. It can also support recovery from injuries, surgery, and conditions like tendonitis, rotator cuff problems, non-specific joint pain and much more. By addressing both the muscular tension and nervous system patterns behind pain, neuro-myofascial release can help reduce discomfort, improve mobility, and speed up recovery. Even if soft tissue (fascia, muscles, tendons, ligaments) isn’t the root cause of your pain, this approach can provide relief while you work toward understanding the root cause, helping you feel more comfortable in your body as you heal. If you're unsure whether this approach is right for you, feel free to reach out via email: info@mindandmusclerescue.com.au We can have a chat and see if it’s a good fit.
Elen's Story
From Chronic Pain and Illness to Absolutely Thriving
I lived with chronic neck pain, tension headaches, and jaw issues throughout my childhood and teenage years, struggling with tension and pain that would not go away.

In my 20s, I faced a major health challenge: severe full-body eczema. It wasn’t just a physical battle; the emotional toll was immense. My eczema left me debilitated for five years, at times landing me in the hospital due to infections, and sent my neck pain through the roof.

I tried everything. Alternative medicine, numerous physical therapists, countless prescription medications, and saw a variety of doctors. Some things gave me symtoms relief, but nothing that gave me a resolution.
This personal journey has given me a small window of insight into what my clients are going through when they walk into my clinic. I understand the frustration of living with chronic pain, the overwhelming feeling of trying countless things without success.

That’s part of why I do what I do. I strive to provide the kind of support I never received. For me, true healing only started when I looked at my health as a whole - when I began to understand the connection between my physical health and mental well-being. I realised that my body was trying to communicate something important, and once I addressed the emotional and mental aspects of my pain and illness, the physical symptoms began to ease.

Today, my neck issues are all but gone (a tight neck will always be my smoke alarm to tell me when I'm stressed!) and I am completely eczema free.

However, I’m not here to offer a one-size-fits-all solution. What worked for me won’t necessarily work for everyone, and I don't push a particular treatment or protocol. Instead, my approach is centred on creating a safe space for exploration. I draw on the physical and mental techniques I’ve learned over the years to support each client’s unique healing journey. Whether through bodywork, counselling, or a combination of both, my role is to walk alongside you, offering the tools and support that help you find the path to healing that works best for you.
I love what I do not only because of my own journey but also because of the privilege it is to play a small part in my clients' healing process. Every person I work with teaches me something new, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to support them through their own unique journeys.
